January calls for comfort food done properly and Pie Night at The Marketplace delivers exactly that.
On Friday 16 January, we are serving a dedicated evening menu celebrating one of Britain’s best loved dishes. Expect generous portions, slow cooked fillings, crisp pastry, and all the sides you would hope for. This is food designed to warm you up and slow the evening down.
The menu starts with a selection of classic and globally inspired starters including a hand raised pork pie with chilli jam, a tomato, feta and spinach tart, and a Jamaican spiced pork patty with mango chutney. Each is designed to be comforting without being heavy, setting you up for the main event.
Our pie selection includes slow roasted beef shin and red wine puff pastry pie, chicken and ham hock pie, a chickpea and roast vegetable curry pie, a seafood and herb cream pie topped with creamed potato, and a classic cottage pie finished with blue cheese mash. All are served with proper accompaniments including mashed potato or chunky chips, buttered greens and rich gravy or sauce where appropriate.
Desserts continue the theme with traditional favourites such as apple and blackberry crumble tart, pecan pie with ice cream, and lemon meringue pie with ice cream.
Pie Night is relaxed, welcoming and perfect for friends, couples or anyone who simply wants a great meal without fuss. Tables are limited and takeaway is available for those who would rather enjoy pie night at home.
Booking is recommended.
